Growing up within the confines of a conventional Chinese household, my upbringing was steeped in the customs of our ancestors. It was a regular occurrence for my mother to diligently prepare offerings, as was customary in our ancestral worship. These rituals, conducted on the 1st and 15th day of each lunar month, as well as on special occasions, served as a means of paying respect to our forebears.

However, as our society progresses and undergoes transformative changes, this time-honored practice is gradually losing its prominence. In an endeavor to delve into this fading tradition, I have embarked on a project aimed at capturing the essence of ancestral offerings by exploring the various objects that adorn my home.

This project endeavour encompasses the profound concept of communicating with the departed, akin to the modern-day phenomenon of engaging in online conversations. It seeks to depict our innate longing to connect with those dear to us, even in the absence of their physical presence in this world.
