The artwork on the book jacket delves into the array of emotions experienced by the characters in Dave Chua's 1997 novel, Gone Case. Drawing inspiration from my personal teenage years, which parallel the journey of the protagonist, Yong, the artwork reflects the overwhelming impact of growing up in a dysfunctional family. Loneliness, isolation, and frustration permeate the design, evoking a profound sense of melancholy.
Crafting a cohesive narrative from individual letters posed a significant challenge. To overcome this, I envisioned the letters in shades of blue, imbuing them with a wistful nostalgia reminiscent of the familiar neighborhood estate where I spent my formative years.
